Sunday World & Ombeline Chardes presenterer: Trina Coleman with Sukuma

American born soul singer Trina Coleman weaves together her classical training and multi-ethnic background, to create an achingly honest, soulful sound that pulses with a deeply personal narrative. Trina performed with her band at festivals and venues along the east coast of the US before she and her family relocated to Norway in 2016. She appeared on the 2019 season of The Voice Norway with her memorable rendition of "Ain't No Sunshine," and performs regularly with the Nordic Black Theatre. This performance will be in collaboration with the new vocal collective Sukuma (“stand up/push” in Zulu/Swahili). The group is composed of professional vocalists and dancers who descend from four different continents and whose intent is to foster a high level of excellence within African vocal music traditions. The ensemble incorporates audience participation with music and movement which are seen as a central source of healing and unification.
